Embodied Joy Practice
Embodied Joy helps us reconnect with safety and joy in our body by linking positive experiences to positive sensations. The more we practice noticing and savoring these connections, the more our brain learns that our body can be a safe place. Throughout this course, we’ve explored what safety means and how to notice it around us. This practice takes it further—it teaches us what safety feels like inside our body.
How to Practice Embodied Joy
Recall a Positive Experience
Think of a recent moment that felt good—something from this week, perhaps. Who was there? What made it meaningful? What feelings came up?Notice the Body’s Response
Bring the memory fully to mind, then gently scan your body. Where do you feel the echo of that joy or safety? Maybe warmth in your heart, lightness in your shoulders, comfort in your stomach, or a pleasant tingling through your body.Savor the Sensations
Stay with these feelings. Notice what feels good, safe, or comforting. If your mind drifts, gently return to the sensations. Imagine soaking in them like you would a warm bath, letting them fill and nourish you.Return with Awareness
When you’re ready, bring yourself back to your present space. Acknowledge that you’ve just shown your brain and body what safety and joy feel like—and that you can return here anytime.
